Spell the End of Cancer
Spell the End of Cancer is an annual cancer fundraising event in memory of our dear friend, neighbor, and Scrabble enthusiast extraordinaire Ann Brewster Jones. Following Ann’s death from pancreatic cancer in February 2010, a group of her friends collaborated to organize the first annual Spell the End of Cancer event. This evening of word fun and good company is now held annually, with all proceeds benefitting Stand Up to Cancer, an organization dedicated to accelerating groundbreaking cancer research and encouraging collaboration instead of competition. To date, we have raised over $30,000 in three years.
In 2008 Kenneth Yang started an SU2C fundraising page to honor his late wife Tamla. Over the course of five years Kenneth and Tamla’s friends and family raised over $26,000 to support cutting edge cancer research. Kenny continues to grow his fundraising every year and has made an important contribution to SU2C’s groundbreaking mission.
Sheree Solt & Adam Doss
In 2011 Sheree and Adam decided to ask for donations rather than wedding gifts. “Our wedding is more that just us celebrating, it’s us celebrating what we have been through as a family. Most of us have been affected by cancer one way or another. We asked people to come together for our wedding and donate in honor of those that have put some meaning to the word LIFE.” Adam and Sheree’s wedding generated over $10,000 in donations for cutting edge cancer research.
